Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs
Learn everything you wanted to know about Alcohol, tobacco and other drug trends, use and current findings. Understand and learn about behaviors, look at the effects of the drugs and their contribution to behaviors. Examine their effects on families and the changing dynamics. This is a great prevention, intervention and educational workshop.
Cultural Responsiveness
Explore the importance of learning about your biases and judgments of others and how it affects your ability to deliver culturally relevant services. Engage in didactic exercises while you consciously uncover roadblocks to becoming the most effective person you can be in the workplace, and community. Participate in open and direct conversation about cultural diversity and the importance of being conscious of those different from you versus being ‘color-blind.’ This workshop is for everyone in the workforce and social settings.
Oppositional Defiance
Learn the skills necessary to work with children and adolescents with oppositional behavior and become effective in deescalating the most challenging student. Engage with other participants in role play to learn about your areas for self-improvement. Learn about the bio-psycho-socio contributors for the behaviors exhibited by the population. Learn about the contributors for the behaviors and explore ways to effectively serve the population. This workshop is for anyone working in high risk adolescent population. This workshop is a way to gain skills when faced with resistance from adolescents.
Adolescent Development in the 21 Century
This workshop examines the 21 Century adolescent and the many factors influencing their development. For example, the examination of dynamics related to family, health/wellness, societal influences, crime and violence just to name a few. Statistics are reviewed related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and crime and violence. This workshop is recommended for anyone working with the adolescent population. This workshop includes activities, role playing, didactic and other-related activities. The Workshop concludes with a plan for success.
School Communities and Crisis (Part 1 & 2)
Learn about the behavior associated with community violence and its impact on the children in your community. Explore crisis and how it relates to the school community. Learn to address and deescalate the adolescent experiencing crisis and create a plan for your environment when crisis occurs. Engage in role play with other participants and you learn about the bio-psycho-socio contributors for the behaviors. This workshop is for anyone who works in an environment with a high risk population for oppositional behavior or resistance towards authority figures.
Pathways
A workshop geared towards young African-American and Latino men ages 12-19 for dialogue about their experience growing up and expectations for life. The participants will watch a video and have dialogue with a professional facilitator about life options. The participants will explore their life and goals and realistically examine them. The participants will create step-by-step plans for meeting their goals writing the steps to get there. The workshop is geared toward interactively teaching the young men about communication and listening. The young men will learn the importance of education in their futures. The facilitator will engage the young men in conversation about high risk behaviors and consequences. This workshop is designed for young men who may be at risk for becoming juvenile delinquent. The participants will create a plan for success and receive a certificate of completion before the end of the workshop.
Anger Management
Becoming angry is normal and healthy. This workshop helps you to recognize when you are becoming angry, how to calm down and how to deal with the situation positively. This workshop is done with activities from a workbook. Individual and group activities are conducted with handouts, interactive activities and videos.
